Surely Control+C should only work if you have something selected?

Otherwise I overwrite what I previously cut/copied.

Consider moving a block of text.
I hit Control+X to move it to the clipboard.

Then I hit Control+C by mistake instead of Control+V to insert the text elsewhere (as they’re right next to each other on the keyboard – all WordStar’s fault).

However now the clipboard contains nothing instead of my cut text as there is nothing selected.

So I have to undo to get my text back in the original place and start again.

This would be super handy in EmEditor for sharing code snippets, etc. Right now I constantly find myself going to http://hilite.me or similar to format my code and paste it into an email or other medium.
