markers – EmEditor (Text Editor) https://www.emeditor.com Best Text Editor, Code Editor, CSV Editor, Large File Viewer for Windows (Free versions available) Mon, 23 Jan 2023 16:58:38 +0000 en-US hourly 1 https://wordpress.org/?v=6.5.5 Clear marker for unsaved text…. https://www.emeditor.com/forums/topic/clear-marker-for-unsaved-text/ Mon, 23 Jan 2023 16:56:41 +0000 https://www.emeditor.com/forums/topic/clear-marker-for-unsaved-text/ There is a yellow marker on both left and right sides of the screen. It changes to green when I save a file. But it is yellow when unsaved. But I may wish to clear this yellow marker. How do I do this (without saving the file)?

unsaved yellow marker removal

I see where it says to clear marker for SAVED text, but unsaved text doesn’t seem to have the same love.

Now I could uncheck “show markers”, but that would remove all markers, and not just temporarily clear existing markers (but new changes would then get a new marker.)

Please advise.

edit: also note that unchecking “show markers” affects all tabs, not just the current tab work. And “show markers” still leaves the left side with the yellow unsaved marker in the line # column.

Marker regular expressions limited to 256 characters? https://www.emeditor.com/forums/topic/marker-regular-expressions-limited-to-256-characters/ Wed, 26 Feb 2014 21:50:52 +0000 http://www.emeditor.com/forums/topic/marker-regular-expressions-limited-to-256-characters/ Markers in EmEditor can be defined as either names or regular expressions. There seems to be a limit of approximately 256 characters for this marker “name” string though, which is of course more than enough for normal marker names, but absolutely NOT for regular expressions in all cases. I have bumped into this frustrating limit several times now while creating clever regular expression markers, so could you PLEASE consider increasing this limit considerably (or by all means, remove the limit completely and let the user decide this for himself)? It feels like a very unfortunate limit for an otherwise extremely useful feature!
